Our Aircraft

Janes Aviation operates the BAe (HS) 748 Aircraft.

Originally designed to satisfy the requirements as a replacement for the Douglas DC-3 with the prototype first flying in 1960. It is a twin turboprop regional dedicated freighter powered by Rolls Royce Dart engines and fully compliant with all Mandatory Modifications, including Stage 3 Noise, EGPWS, ELT, TCAS 2 with the added benefit of a transverse cargo net modification to supplement the approved and installed Class E compartment.

Ideal for dedicated low utilization contracts where the economics of later generation aircraft such as the ATR 42 are not cost effective. Over the years 1960-1988 nearly 400 BAe 748s were built with more than 200 aircraft remaining in service today. (Source BAE – link below) - a true testimony to the continued applicability of the type in specialist roles. Both BAE and Rolls Royce have committed to continuing support until 2015. The BAe748 can operate off licensed airfields of 950mtrs with 55 cu.mtrs and over 6000 Kgs payload – what else can match it?
